Matt i am so stoked on the fact that you're hosting it this year. I have no doubt you will make it as great as todd has been thus far. Any ideas on the afterparty? I heard the max closed its doors for good.

What does minimal fanfare mean? Are we getting a permit this year to avoid bullshit? Are there going to be sponsors this year? Are we going to advertise it so more than just Canadians come?
It would be nice if we could restore this comp back to how epic it used to be.

Insurance is a joke. Fuck em. Just don't "drink" or "sell" anything in public and all is good. What are they going to do, arrest everyone for skating the park\take all the built obstacles away with them? Highly doubt it. The park is free to the public isn't it.... aren't we the public? The key to the pop contest being a success again is simple as far as I'm concerned.... we do what we want. Skate with our home boys, drink refreshing beverages, enjoy nature, and have fun. You don't need a permit for that do you? or am I missing the point?
I personally believe that talking to the city was a bad idea, now they know it will happen.

No booths... but..... I say we set up a "tent" or 2 for "shade" and have "banners" that express our right to freedom of speech (sponsors if you get any lined up). Instead of announcing, have you thought about making big signs or white boards that broadcast the info needed; such as heat\round info, who is in each heat, how much time is left, ect. ect...? And have good looking girls carry them around like ring girls? In bikinis?

Disregard everything Jimmy Key said. The max will be closed by the time Pop Contest rolls around because it should be destroyed by next week. Also, no little fucks bear mace.

no way! where are we to party if the max is gone?
didn't we spend enough last year to keep it open, or did the renovations they did with the money from '08 cost to much?

It will be gone by next week. I don't think its money problems. A huge hotel and restaurant are being built on that property.

Is there even any other bar that will accommodate the amount of people that always shows up? And at that, Will they try and keep us contained? Is that even possible?!
Also, I think you keep the date Matt.
Tom, you should move KOTS back to the third weekend of august, just like you wanted it to stay.
